First and just as an aside, I’ve updated the blog roll list with my friend’s new site, PUMPED! Gaming. He does a Justin.tv channel of the same name where he broadcasts in live format random video game titles he plays, usually starting around 12AM EST or just before. Yeah, he’s a late-nighter just like me.
Also, my ever diligent and hard working self (yeah, right) has added in the content for the About section, and more importantly, added an Archives page that makes use of a nice ‘lil Wordpress plugin that utilizes JavaScript to allow for collapsible/expandable chronological archive listings by month. Not a bad little feature.

Rawr, baby.
In other news, the NFL playoffs have begun, and I’m awaiting the Panthers game later this week. In the NFL, they’re my team - mostly due to regional proximity and the fact I started following them their first year of inception - and I’m hoping for big things out of them this postseason, but hey, really, with the Panthers you just don’t know. This seems to be one of their “on” years, so anything can happen, especially with the emergence of the rather sweet young runningback tandem of Williams/Stewart and the always intriguing power pairing of Delhomme/Smith. A potent ground game and air assault? Let’s hope for something special these next few weeks.

…. I’ll probably be doing a lot of the same stuff I do now. I’m not much for resolutions at this time of the (new) year. If we’re going to make resolutions, we may as well make them throughout the year, and not just wait for a pre-appointed time that meshes with some societal expectation that we do such.
Just a random thought.
All I know is, hopefully 2009 will continue to bring me the same sort of occasional dumb luck 2008 did.

Just a quick thought. I’ve watched both of these films again in the last couple days (most of it in the case of Braveheart, some in the case of The Patriot), and each time I’m reminded of what a furious maniac Mel Gibson is in each film, and how similar the gratuitous violence is - of course, this should come as no surprise seeing as Gibson not only starred in both, but also directed Braveheart. It would also come as no surprise if The Patriot director Roland Emmerich took some inspiration and visual cues from the death of William Wallace’s wife and reflected this in Benjamin Martin’s loss of eldest son, Gabriel, played by the late and ultimately deeply talented Heath Ledger.

It doesn't look like he's enjoying this.
While The Patriot was good in its own right, Braveheart is clearly the far superior movie. Seeing it again the other day, I still get some goosebumps on hearing Wallace’s strained and anguished cry for “FREEEEDOM!” just prior to execution, as he turns his back on mercy and feebly yet heroically grips onto the ideals that have pushed him to that very point.
Did I mention Mel Gibson is one of my favorite actors?

Today (or yesterday, technically) I added the Wind theme - accessible from the pencil sphere icon at the bottom left - and this is my favorite yet, even edging out the current default, Void. It’s a little lighter and cheerier, and possesses an emphasis on a Carolina blue sky, so methinks I’ll make that the default theme tomorrow. It just hit me how I can probably do that, so maybe I won’t have to look through the theme’s documentation for guidance. Also, inspired by my mentioning of Carolina, I just now stopped and uploaded the above logo in place of the default pen and paper icon, although I’ll have to make the background transparent at some point so it properly fits. Too tired to mess with that right now.
Also, the blogroll was updated - particular interest to my/Nation Hahn’s site UFL Access, which stands literally as the #1 resource on the web for the upstart football league. More on that in the future.
And now, I go off to Dream Land….

No, not that Dream Land, Kirby..... (And, yes, I do have a pink puffball on my site)

As a YouTube/embedding test for the new site here, I figured I’d share below the surprisingly nimble and cat-like moves of our outgoing president, George W. Bush, as he dodges the furious flying footwear of a disgruntled Iraqi journalist.
What a ninja he is.

This is just the initial post for my blog, billy-kirk.com. I figured…. why not name a site after myself. Surely people would flock in the thousands to read my thoughts.
This place will act as a personal blog, as well as a work resource where my CV and more can be obtained. And yes, it’s ok if you think to yourself, “A personal and work blog combined?! Shenanigans!” Perhaps so, but shenanigans are what I’m all about.
More to come.
